Former call centre consultant Keith Gait will be running the Great South Run to raise money for the hospital where his partner received treatment.

Keith, who is currently working as an Interim Director of Patient Experience for the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, has already raised over £3,500 – more than tripling his JustGiving target of £1,000 – for a new Breast Cancer Care Unit, whilst training for the 10-mile race set to take place this Sunday. His efforts will help to support the “Love Your Hospitals” charity, which collects money for Worthing Hospital, St Richard’s Hospital and Southlands Hospital.

This has not been a minor undertaking for Keith, who has lost nearly 6 stone since beginning training in November last year.

“As I have visited the hospital with Carole through the chemotherapy, operations, and radiotherapy, I have been struck by how many women this is affecting, and how brave and strong they all are as they face up to what this terrible illness can do,” said Keith.

“The women are supported through all of this by the amazing Macmillan nurses, who take the time to talk to them about their treatments, and take the time to listen to their concerns and fears. This care and support is funded entirely by donations ,and without it, this vital service cannot be provided.”
