The financial services market is facing an increased amount of pressure to meet consumer expectations and retain their customers.

This has been propelled by the introduction of the current account-switching service, which has seen approximately 1.2 million consumers switch current accounts in the past year. With this number expected to grow, the financial services industry may soon mirror the switching culture of the mobile phone and utilities sectors.

The financial sector is also having to cope with concerns about the safety and reliability of online services, as there are limitations to the questions that can be answered via webchat or Twitter.
