Plantronics headet awarded latest global standard for ergonomics and acoustic quality

Plantronics is the first headset company to be awarded the new TCO Certified Edge Headsets Certification for the Savi 740 and the Savi 440 office wireless headsets.

This marks the third time Plantronics has been the first headset company to receive TCO Headsets Certification and illustrates its commitment to enhanced acoustic quality and protection, corporate social responsibility and exceptional ergonomics.

TCO Certification is a global scheme designed to advance sustainable IT by influencing the manufacture, use and recycling of IT products to reflect environmental, social and economic responsibility.

Baseline TCO certified headsets meet stringent criteria for protection against sound spikes and other acoustic measures. The new, more demanding TCO Edge Certification is the latest headset certification programme for enhanced acoustic limiting, the automatic suppression of loud noises to a more comfortable level (102dBA). It takes acoustic protection to the next level by requiring headsets to also limit sudden increases in volume, which can cause discomfort, fatigue and potential hearing loss with repeated exposure. These unwanted noises typically originate from external sources and can cause sudden and unexpected increase in volume, startling the user.

The first headset to receive the new TCO Certified Edge designation is Plantronics’ Savi 740, the lightest DECT headset on the market, allowing the office professional to manage calls coming in from a PC, desk phone, or mobile phone; seamlessly switching between all three as required. It provides the user with up to 120 metres roaming range, and the three headset wearing styles: over the ear, over the head, and behind the neck give users a variety of options for maximum long-term comfort and flexibility. The new TCO Certified Edge designation ensures that the headset includes advanced hearing protection features to prevent unnecessary strain, stress and discomfort.
