MP Michael Moore formally opened Sykes’s new contact centre in Galashiels on the Scottish border at the company’s ‘fulfilment’ facilities by Netherdale.

“I am delighted to open this additional facility, which has been totally resourced by local people and is further proof that we have a quality pool of labour here in the Borders,” said Michael Moore.

The formal opening comes two and half months after the contact centre opened its doors and has already proved to be an unqualified success.  Some forty agents have now undergone induction and further advanced training with some tough performance targets now being consistently exceeded.

In addition, the forty agents, who are likely to number more than 50 during the course of the next six months, all hail from the Borders with some travelling from as far afield as Jedburgh. The operation is targeted to grow to 200-seats over the next eighteen months.

The decision to create a contact centre operation in Galashiels has given this traditional fulfilment operation the important element of diversity, while tapping into the intrinsic strength of a well-educated Borders workforce.
