Contact centre product manager Luke Talbot has launched his first novel ‘Keystone’.

The narrative follows archaeologist Gail Turner as she stumbles upon the most incredible find in living memory and struggles to unravel the mystery of the Amarna Stickman, as the world around her descends into chaos.

The launch marks the culmination of Luke’s long-standing ambition to write a novel, and its inspiration spans a lifetime.

“I come from a very artistic family,” said Luke. “My dad was a stage actor who shared a bedsit with Anthony Hopkins for a year back in the early sixties and my Belgian grandmother, Marie Térèse Baird, was a writer of literary fiction.”

However, his genes weren’t the only source of his creativity. At the age of eleven, Luke and his family moved to a remote mountain in the south of France, with no electricity and no neighbours.

“Growing up by candlelight (it was actually mostly oil lamps) is a sure-fire way of stoking up the imagination,” said Luke. “Especially with no TV to boot, and with every nook and cranny of the house crammed with shelves and books.”

Yet it wasn’t until 2002, whilst working the ‘Twilight Shift’ at a British Gas contact centre, that he began writing properly. By working 3pm until 11pm each evening, Luke gained time in the day (whilst his wife was at work) to finally dedicate himself to his first novel.

‘Keystone’ by Luke Talbot is available now on Amazon.
