20th November 2012

On Friday 16th November, the Autoglass contact centre in Bedford became one of the official donation call centres for the BBC’s Children in Need.
Last year Autoglass took over 1,200 calls and collected close to £90k on behalf of the charity. As a result of this success, the company was approached to support the charity fund-raising event once again.
This year, 54 contact centres across the UK took part in Children in Need to answer the pledge lines and the Autoglass contact centre, based at the company’s headquarters at Priory Park in Bedford, will be the only one from the Herts, Beds and Bucks region helping this worthy charity try to reach the £32million target.
To get in to the fund-raising spirit Autoglass held fund-raising events at its HQ throughout the day with a Cowboys & Indians theme, before 100 of its staff, including customer services, management, technicians and directors took to the phones.
The phone lines officially opened at 6.30pm by local resident and Olympic gold medal winning canoeist Etienne Stott, who joined in the fund-raising activities and taking donation calls.
Matthew Mycock, Autoglass Managing Director commented: “We are incredibly proud to be asked by Children in Need to help again this year. All of us at Autoglass are strong supporters of this remarkable charity and are looking forward to manning the phones. There’s always a great atmosphere in the contact centre on the night, so we’re really excited to be involved.”

For the fourth consecutive year, FedEx Express donated the services of one of its call centres to help raise money for Children in Need. More than 150 FedEx employees volunteered their time to staff the Coventry call centre, taking donations and pledges, providing technical support and lending other assistance.
Over the last three years, the FedEx Express call centre in Coventry has taken almost 10,000 calls and more than £330,000 in donations and pledges for the BBC Children in Need Appeal.
“Nights like the BBC Children in Need telethon absolutely bring out the best in people. This will be the fourth year the team here in Coventry have volunteered their time through the night to help give children the childhood they deserve and the enthusiasm is palpable. I could not be more proud,” said Adam Koffler, managing director at FedEx Express, based in Coventry.

Annually, IFDS host a Call Centre for Children in Need, taking calls from members of the public who wish to make donations. Children in Need 2012 was their 5th and best year yet!
On Friday 16th November, the company welcomed a team of 271 volunteers who took 4,717 calls between 7pm and 2am. They were thrilled to have taken a total of £143,322 in pledges and donations.
Across their Basildon, Chelmsford and Brentwood sites, IFDS also raised more than £6,000 throughout the day with raffles, leg waxing and sales of Pudsey ears. Even the directors took part in Sumo Wrestling to help raise money!
“Children In Need at IFDS is always a huge success. The atmosphere from the moment we opened the doors all the way through to 2am was phenomenal. From our Clients, our colleagues, their friends and family, right the way through to our volunteers, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening. How could they not? We had Pudsey, a caricaturist, a magician, raffles, quizzes and a popcorn machine! We know how to have a good time!” said Sue Philpot, Head of Call Centre
