Staff from Respondez call centre in Hartlepool danced up a storm when they joined staff from Ubisoft’s north-east studio, Reflections, to film a video to promote their computer game Just Dance 3 for Playstation Move.
The team, who in their normal duties provide multi-lingual technical support for the computer games company and its customers across Europe, put their best foot forward along with local dance school children, famous Geordies and grandmothers to create the video, which went viral in minutes.
The video achieved over 65,000+hits on YouTube and has been viewed across the world since its launch, which also marked International Dance Day.
As well as promoting the fact that the hugely successful ‘Just Dance 3’ video game for the games console Playstation Move was made in Newcastle by the Reflections team, the aim of the video was also to showcase the great locations and friendly people across the region and as a recruitment tool for the studio, which has over 25 roles on offer.
Despite being an internet sensation, Mandy Burey, team leader for Ubisoft at Respondez, was modest about her teams’ dancing skills.
“Luckily the dancing for the video was based on steps featured in the game and so the routine was easy to learn. It is amazing that the video has done so well in such a short space of time and it was great fun to be involved. It certainly makes a change from helping someone with a games query from Poland or monitoring games forums. However, we won’t be giving up our day jobs any time soon!”
The video was put together by final-year students from the University of Sunderland and can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xncFqAcAts.
