10 employees from Fusion Contact Centre Services (part of the BGL Group) are to be rewarded with a week-long trip to Guatemala to see first-hand how the company’s charity donations will be invested.
Part of their five-year CSR strategy is to build pre-schools and care centres in developing countries, with the aim of reducing poverty and creating prosperity. The chosen 10 will visit some of the centres which are currently being built in partnership with Plan UK, as well as meeting a handful of the 1,000 children who will benefit from BGL’s donation.
Group Chief Executive Peter Winslow said: “We are delighted to offer 10 of our employees the opportunity to see first-hand how our contribution will benefit the local communities in Guatemala. The finalists were chosen from over 160 employees who were nominated by their colleagues. Although all nominees have shown great dedication to donating their time to worthwhile causes, the finalists have gone the extra mile supporting local, national and international charities. They are very deserving of their place on the trip and I’m sure it will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for them.”
One of the chosen 10, Fusion Team Assistant Zoe Peat, said: “I am honoured to have been chosen out of so many nominees to take part in this trip and I am humbled that I will get the opportunity to visit the communities that will benefit so much from BGL’s donation. The support of my colleagues has been overwhelming and I know they will all get behind our fundraising to maximise the support we can offer these communities. I’m proud to work for a company that gives so much back to great causes.”
As part of the fundraising activity for Plan UK, BGL Group is organising a Dragon Boat tournament in May 2013 where 23 teams of 11 employees from around the business will compete to win the title of ‘Dragon Boat Champion’. Each team must raise at least £2,500 to be entered into the race and all money raised will be donated to Plan UK to help fund the projects in Guatemala.
