Suffolk County Council has appointed knowledge management solutions provider Transversal and its partner, international digital leader, Atos, to deliver an enterprise HR solution in the form of a centralised knowledge base that allows employees to serve themselves online.

To cope with their increasingly mobile workforce, the knowledge base solution functions as part of Suffolk County Council’s website and ensures employees have access to consistent, accurate information 24/7 from a single source and no matter where they are.

The ability to self-serve has also been instrumental in freeing HR staff’s time. Previously, all enquiries from the 5,400 members of staff were run through the HR department, with the vast number of requests placing increasing pressure on a stretched team.

“As a public-sector organisation we are under increasing pressure to improve the speed, consistency and quality of our employee service, whilst also reducing costs”, said Duncan Crow, HR Support Team Manager at Suffolk County Council. “Most importantly, all our employees, whether they are office or field based, and whatever shifts they work, now have direct access to the HR department 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on any device, mobile phone, tablet and computer.”
