Agents in Sunderland have hosted a fundraising event for a national road safety charity.

The fundraiser for BRAKE took place at EDF Energy’s customer service office at Doxford International Business Park. It included a bake sale, tombola, raffles and selling football cards.

The event was run in support of a local customer service advisor, who lost her fiancé in a road traffic accident last year.

“I had never had to deal with such a devastating ordeal. This is when BRAKE stepped in to help,” said Janinne Lesley from County Durham. “They give support and information on the next steps after the tragic accident. They even provided me with a picture book to explain the tragedy to my little girl Laylah, who is 5 years old, in the easiest possible way.”

The grand total raised by those at EDF Energy reached £2,194.87 following the event organised by Janinne and her colleague Leanne Newton.

“Janinne and I would like to thank our colleagues at EDF Energy for their support in the fundraiser,” said Leanne Newton. “The charity obviously means a lot to Janinne and it’s great to see everyone we work with come together to support her in her efforts for such an important organisation.”
