Agents scoring baskets of team spirit

One call centre is turning to basketball to give agents a chance to bond outside of work.

Assembling a team of ideal and hard-working call centre professionals is hard enough, but the bigger challenge is how to keep them happy and motivated. In a call centre outsourcing environment, attrition rates and health issues caused by inactivity are very high and there aren’t that many options for you to choose from in terms of preventing it.

Yet Philippines-based call centre team, the EB Lycans, have found a way: by participating in the CSCC E-League, more commonly known as the Inter-Call Centre Basketball Tournament. In this event, various teams from different call centres compete in a friendly and competitive game of basketball. Not only is it something that employees look forward to, it is also a chance for them to exercise and practise team work outside the production area. It gives them a sense of company pride at the same time.

Though they may not have many achievements under their belt, the EB Lycans believe in the spirit of sportsmanship and combined effort and recently took the spot in becoming the 2013 Shootout Champions.
