Staff from the Tesco Customer Service Centre in Dundee have raised close to £3,000 for Cancer Research by walking three of Scotland’s most famous bridges in fancy dress.

Motorists crossing the Tay Bridge, Kincardine Bridge and Forth Road Bridge were treated to a variety of colourful outfits as they crossed the bridges, including 1-1-8 runners, a Smurfette and Elvis Presley.  Twenty-three staff took part on the day, with fancy dress compulsory.

Lyn Smith, a team leader at the centre, said:  “When we first talked about walking the bridges for charity, there were 4 of us involved and we set a target of £500.

“We’ve had a phenomenal response from our staff, and we’re absolutely delighted that 23 people took part on the day and smashed our fundraising target more than six times over.

“My ten-year-old daughter came along on the day and she summed it up when she said ‘by doing this, Mum, we’re saving lives’.  It’s such a fantastic cause that touches everyone.”

Staff organised a host of events over the last month to raise the funds, including a sponsored silence, charity bake sale, and a sporting memorabilia auction, in addition to sponsors from friends and colleagues.
